THERMOPLASTIC PHARMACEUTICAL AND MEDICAL SEALING ARTICLE

PURPOSE:To provide a thermoplastic pharmaceutical and medical sealing article for medical rubber stopper highly safe at use and preventing an environmental contamination at destruction by fire by forming the thermoplastic pharmaceutical and medical sealing article from a block copolymer of an unvulcanized aromatic vinyl compound and isobutylene. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic pharmaceutical and medical sealing article is formed from a rubber material consisting of a block copolymer of an aromatic vinyl compound and isobutylene. The article means a pharmaceutical rubber stopper, a syringe gasket, a pressure-reduced blood collecting tube rubber stopper, a syringe gasket used both as a medicinal solution charging vessel and syringe basket, a syringe cap used both as a medicinal solution charging vessel and syringe cap. The thus-obtained article can be used for various medical rubber stoppers as it is excellent in flexibility, gas passability resistance, non-eluting property, high cleanliness, sterilization resistance (it can be boiled at high temperature because of its extremely high heat resistance, ethylene oxide sterilization and gamma-ray sterilization can be performed), self-sealing property (it has compression-resisting permanent distorting property), and needle piercing resistance.
