PRODUCTION OF FLOATING TYPE MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To enable the exact setting of the floating quantity of a magnetic head by measuring the working quantity at both ends at a proper point of the time of taper working and controlling polishing conditions, thereby surely uniformalizing taper angles for respective sliders. CONSTITUTION:A block (1 to be juxtaposed and formed with plural pieces of the magnetic head sliders 1 is simultaneously subjected to the formation of tapers 3P of floating surfaces. This taper working operation is executed in such a state that the load of the block 11 on a taper working surface plate can be changed from each other at both ends thereof in the arranging direction X1-X1 of the sliders 1. The uniformity of the taper working quantity at both ends is measured at the proper point of the time and the load and the working time are controlled. The plural sliders are cut and parted out of the block after the detection of the terminal of the taper working quantity. As a result, the uniform selection of the taper angles is possible.
