POSITION DETECTOR FOR CONTAINER

PURPOSE:To correctly detect the position of a container in a container yard in real time without manual operation by providing a control device for computing the position of a container according to a read signal of an identifier, a travel distance detecting signal of a container cargo handling gear and an elevating distance detecting signal of a container. CONSTITUTION:A control device 40 of a container cargo handling gear 6 computes the actual position of a container according to a read signal of an identifier 31 transmitted from a reader 32, a travel distance detecting signal of the container cargo handling gear 6 transmitted from an encoder 34, and an elevating distance detecting signal of a container 2 transmitted from one of proximity switches 35a, 35b, 35c. The computing operation is started in response to a hold signal for a container 2 or a hold release signal transmitted from an operating device 21a for a holding click 21 of a spreader 14. The computed container position is stored corresponding to a container identification code input from the respective input devices 41 in a storage device 40b.
