Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a controller for electric vehicle in which transfer is made smoothly from coasting to constant speed operation by interposing a constant speed notch position between an off notch position and 1 notch position. CONSTITUTION:When a main controller 6 commands transfer from coasting (off notch) to constant speed notch, a constant speed command line 19 switches 9 and 10 to the positions reverse to those shown on the drawing. When a constant speed command is fed to a target speed setter 20, a signal fr corresponding to the vehicle speed at that time (which may be the rotational speed of motor) is latched and employed as a speed command signal fp. A comparator/amplifier 21 then compares the speed command signal fp with the vehicle speed corresponding signal fr and produces new slip frequency command fSP and motor current command IMP through the switches 9 and 10 for that difference. Consequently, switching can be made from coasting to constant speed operation and constant speed operation can be made at an arbitrary speed.
