CLOTH AND KNITTING

PURPOSE: To obviate the occurrence of wrinkle along lines of sections where the regions of different structures are joined by changing the loop length in one structure in the one region to a specific state with respect to the loop length of the structure in another region. CONSTITUTION: Needles 3, 3a; 4 of respective heads of a knitting machine having a pair of independently operable opposite needle beds 5 and 6 are moved independently from each other within these beds. The camming surfaces of cam members are independently changed in order to change the loop lengths of the stitches 7, 8, 9 and 9a knitted in the needles operated by the cams. The loop lengths of the double structures in proximity to each other are relatively adjusted in such a manner that the courses of the same number with respect to the two regions of the different knitting structures varying in a longitudinal direction in the slacked state of the fabric extend to the substantially the same wale-wise direction distance.
