Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide the subject cosmetic containing an amide derivative and a silicone oil, improving water retention of the horny layer, exhibiting an excellent effect on improvement of chapped skin and excellent in feeling in use and stability. CONSTITUTION:As the active components, 1 to 30wt.% amide derivative of the formula (R is a 10 to 26C hydrocarbon; R is a 9 to 25C hydrocarbon), 5 to 80wt.% silicone oil (e.g. dimethylpolysiloxane), 0.5 to 15wt.% ether-modified silicone (polyether-modified silicone) and 0.5 to 10wt.% clay mineral (e.g. montmorillonite) are contained. In case the above-mentioned components are mixed and stirred according to the conventional method, a stable gel composition can be obtained. In case mixing and stirring are carried out after addition of water, a stable water in oil type emulsion composition can be obtained. The above-mentioned compositions is useful as a milky lotion, a foundation, a hand cream, an ointment base, a sun screen, etc.
