INK RIBBON AND BASE CLOTH THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To prevent the movement of an ink ribbon in the ribbon width direction of a running route by infiltrating ink in the base cloth for the ink ribbon having a plain weave structure wherein S twist yarns and Z twist yarns same in twist number are contained in a plurality of warp yarns. CONSTITUTION:Each of yarns 3 constituting base cloth 10 for an ink ribbon is constituted of S twist yarn 1 with a denier of about 30-70 formed by gathering single yarns 1a, 2a with a denier of about 1 such as polyester filament yarns to twist them in a right direction and Z twist yarn 2 with a denier of about 30-70 formed by gathering single yarns to twist them in a left direction in the almost same number as the S twist yarn 1. The S twist yarns 1 and the Z twist yarns 2 are arranged so as to be alternately positioned at every one yarn in the lateral direction of the ribbon. The base cloth 10 for the ink ribbon is cut in a specified width so that the direction of warp yarns 3 becomes the longitudinal direction of the ribbon and the both ends of the cut base cloth are thermally welded and ink is infiltrated in the base cloth to form an endless ink ribbon. Since this ink ribbon is hard to move in the lateral direction of the ribbon during running, the running resistance thereof can be reduced.
