description PURPOSE:To provide the title member reduced in the exposure of its porous metallic layer even when the amount of cutting of its surface increases and improved in seizure resistance without detriment to its abrasion resistance. CONSTITUTION:The title member consists of a backing metal and a sliding layer bonded to the metal and is prepared by infiltrating a synthetic resin composition into the voids of a porous metallic layer of a porosity of 50-80% and an apparent density which is 20-40% of the theoretical density and obtained by sintering a metallic powder without applying pressure and prepared so that both the porous metallic layer and the synthetic resin layer are scatteredly exposed to the area of contact with a shaft.
