Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To attach a hand protection bow-shaped member to a bearing so that the member can swing so as not to generate torsion moment at the bearing of a chain saw of which brake device integrated into the sprocket cover. CONSTITUTION: The chain saw is provided with a casing 2, a guide rail 5 extending forwardly from the casing, and a brake device for the sprocket. The guide rail 5 is cramped between the casing 2 and a sprocket cover 7. The brake device is provided in the sprocket cover 7, and is also provided with an operation start member formed as a hand protection bow-shaped member 23. The operation start member is held at a bearing 14 of the sprocket cover 7 so that the member can swing around an axis 16 almost vertical to the sprocket cover 7, and is placed at the front of a handle 1 of the chain saw. When the sprocket cover 7 is assembled, a second bearing 15 on the chain saw casing 2 supports the hand protection bow-shaped member.
