METHOD FOR PROCESSING IMAGE

PURPOSE:To obtain a required brightness value utilizing merits and removing demerits in an image including reflected light and an image including no reflected light by utilizing polarized light for illumination for an object to be picked up, obtaining a normal image including surface reflected light and a polarized image including no surface reflected light and synthesizing both the images. CONSTITUTION:Brightness signals for respective picture elements in a normal image obtained without using a polarized light filter and a polarized image obtained by using the filter are synthesized by a brightness processing part. The brightness signals for respective picture elements in the normal image and the polarized image are stored in respective memories for normal images and polarized images, and in the case of reading out and synthesizing these brightness signals, the operation is executed under conditions shown by an equation. Namely the equation is constituted of y=(1-d)y1+alphay2, where (y) is a synthesized brightness value for a certain output picture element,(y1) is a brightness value for a certain picture element in a normal image and)y2)is a brightness value for a picture element corresponding to a polarized image.
