MAGNETIC RECORDING/REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To stabilize the envelope follow-up control without using the envelope detection levels of the first and final recording tracks of a frame by executing a frame-editing in a flying erasion head. CONSTITUTION:Each track consisting of plural track groups including >= 3 tracks per frame is reproduced by the magnetic heads 1 and 2. At the same time, these reproduction signals are detected by the detection circuits 13 and 14. Then the levels of the detection signals are compared with each other by a microcomputer 21 for each track. Based on this comparison output, an electricity-machine transducer is driven by a driving circuit 7 for execution of the tracking control. In this case, the detection signals of the first and final recording tracks of a frame are not used and at the same time the envelope follow-up control is executed with the drived variable of the electricity-machine transducer kept as it is. Thus the stable envelope follow-up control is ensured even if the envelope detection levels are reduced at the first and final recording tracks of a frame.
