BOOKLET ORIGINAL READER

PURPOSE:To provide a booklet original reader which prevents generating the curving part of a booklet original and can accurately read any area of the booklet by making the original placing side of the cross-section of an original plate to be the shape of a character-V of a low grade and allowing a traveling character reader to travel along the shape of the character-V. CONSTITUTION:The sticking image sensor 15 of OCR reads the opened page of a book B placed along the shape of the character-V of the original plate 11. At this time, the surface to be read of the book B is mostly flat so that it can accurately be read. Then, as the original placing side of the cross-section of the original plane 11 is made to be the shape of the character-V of a low grade in the booklet original reader, the cover of the booklet is fitted to the V-shape to be in a natural state at the time of placing the booklet original on the original plate. Thus, both sides of the booklet in the state where the pages before/after the opened page are not pulled by a stitching part are flatly placed on the V-shape.
