Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve accuracy by detecting continuously the tip position of a rock drill by the use of laser beams while automatically guiding the tip of the rock drill to a preset position. CONSTITUTION:A reflector 9 is attached to the tip of a rock drill 2 of a drill jumbo J located in a tunnel and a laser beam projecting-tracking device 5 is provided behind the reflector. Next, while the laser beam is projected from the device 5 to the reflector 9, the reflected beam is received by the device 5. Then, the reflector 9 is tracked by sensing the moving direction of the reflector 9 while adjusting automatically the projecting direction of the laser beam. The present position of the reflector 9 is compared with the positional coordinate of preset stored boring to obtain the deviation. Further, a control signal based on the deviation is inputted to a servo mechanism for driving the rock drill 2 to guide automatically the tip of the rock drill 2 to the boring position. Thus, the tip can be accurately, safely and rapidly located, and excess excavation, turning the hit can be substantially reduced to prevent the quality and cost from an adverse effect.
