DEVICE FOR MANUFACTURING ARCUATED METALLIC SHORT FIBER

PURPOSE:To shear laminated band-like metal foils in a bundle by providing a lower blade on the upper surface of a receiving bed which may be moved in association with the rotation of a stepping motor under a slight adjustment, as a means for adjusting the gap between the lower blade and a cutty nick end mill. CONSTITUTION:Several roll-like metal foils are laminated and are pulled by pinch rollers 3, and further, are laid in multiple stages so that many metallic short fibers may be obtained at one time. Even discarded metal foils having a narrow width of about 5 to 25cm may be used. In order that the gap between the lower blade 6 and a cutty-nick end mill, that is, the relationship for shearing conditions of the metal foils 1 is made to be satisfactory, a means 8 for adjusting the longitudinal position of the lower blade 6 is provided using the rotation of a stepping motor 9. The relative relationship between the cutty-nick end mill and the lower blade is automatically and quantitatively adjusted so as to ensure a constant condition for a long time.
