Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a recording and reproducing device capable of performing an ordinary operation by another cassette, even when a cassette is on a timer reservation, by shortening an access time at a cassette exchange time. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with at least two cassette inserting and ejecting ports, 4A and 4B on one panel 2, and one mechanical deck 5 recording and reproducing the cassettes, 3A and 3B being inserted into these cassettes inserting and ejecting ports, 4A and 4B. The above-mentioned cassettes, 3A and 3B are constituted so as to enable to mount on at least two trays, 7A and 7B.
