PRODUCTION OF VINYL CHLORIDE POLYMER

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having desirable particle diameter without causing the deposition of scale on a polymerizer by applying a condensation reactional product of pyrogallol and acetone to the inner wall surface, etc., of a polymerizer and polymerizing vinyl chloride monomer or a monomer mixture containing vinyl chloride monomer in the polymerizer by aqueous suspension polymerization. CONSTITUTION:Vinyl chloride monomer or a radical-polymerizable monomer mixture composed mainly of vinyl chloride monomer is subjected to suspension polymerization or emulsion polymerization in an aqueous medium. In the above process, a condensation reactional product of pyrogallol and acetone is preparatorily applied to the inner wall surface of the polymerizer and a part of accessories of the polymerizer contacting with the monomer, the polymerizer is charged with pure water as the polymerization medium, a partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol as a dispersing agent and 2-ethylhexylperoxy dicarbonate as a polymerization initiator and the above monomer is charged into the polymerizer and polymerized at 58 deg.C for 10hr to obtain a high-quality vinyl chloride polymer having designed particle diameter in high stability without causing the deposition of scale on the inner wall surface, etc., of the polymerizer.
