Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide an electroluminescent element of high reliability capable of preventing a crack from occurring at a power feed section fitted with an external lead wire, and being free from poor appearance and electrical contact. CONSTITUTION:An electroluminescent element comprises a luminous layer 11 containing dispersed phosphor particles, a transparent electrode layer 14a with a power feed section 17 laid on one principal plane of the layer 11 in such a way as faced to the layer 14a, a back plate layer 13 laminated on the other principal plane of the layer 11 via an insulation layer 12, and an external lead wire 16 connected to the power feed section 17. In this element, the end section of the lead wire 16 where in contact with the power feed section 17 is formed to be thin.
