Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide an improved chemical filter assembly of a low cost and a small size. CONSTITUTION: The chemical filter assembly 24 includes at least one filter media 31 and single filter medium 34A consisting of an active carbon fiber structure for removing granular contaminants. The single filter medium 34a is subjected to an impregnation treatment by a chemical, such as sodium carbonate, so as to trap not only the org. contaminants but the inorganic contaminants as well. The bore size of the active carbon fibers must be sufficiently small in order to prevent the penetration of an aqueous solution into the bores so as to prevent the clogging of the bores with the chemical in the impregnation treatment.
