METALLIC SHORT FIBER POWDER

PURPOSE:To uniformly disperse metallic short fibers into plastic, etc., and to prevent the development of bridge, etc., by forming the metallic short fiber having square cross section and specified in diameter and length to arc-shape bent in the longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:The metallic short fiber powder containing >= at least 70wt% metallic short fiber having 50-100mum fiber diameter, 2-10mm fiber length, square fiber cross sectional shape and arc shape bent in the longitudinal direction as sector arc of 45-180 deg. center angle of the fiber, is prepared. At the time of manufacturing the metallic short fiber powder, some metallic short fibers develop twist in the longitudinal direction with some manufacturing condition. The metallic short fiber having this twist is desirable to increase the strength of composite material because the drawing resistance is increased in the case of mixing into the plastic, etc. In the case of mixing this into the plastic, this is effectively utilized to metal filler of heat resistant and wear resistant plastic composite material, such as disk brake pad, having uniform dispersion and excellent reinforcement.
