IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE

PURPOSE:To attain proper and quick automatic focusing by providing a moving vector detection means able to detect the movement and direction of an image pickup device and a 2nd focus control means able to control an output of the 1st focus control means in response to the moving vector to the image pickup device. CONSTITUTION:A moving vector detection means (11) extracts a moving vector based on a Y signal (5). The obtained moving vector is fed to a 2nd focus control means (12), to which an output of a 1st focus control means (9) is fed. When the moving vector is sufficiently small and it is discriminated that the movement of the image pickup device due to panning or tilt or the like is not in existence, an output of the 1st focus control means (9) is delivered to a focus motor (10) without any loss. However, when a sufficient moving vector is detected for the discrimination of presence of the movement of the image pickup device at once, an output to drive the focus motor (10) by the 1st focus control means (9) is limited or inhibited.
