PIEZOELECTRIC COMPONENT AND METHOD FOR ADJUSTING CAPACITANCE OF THE SAME

PURPOSE:To adjust the capacitance after assembling and to provide a desired capacitance on a piezoelectric component by forming a groove having a prescribed width, depth or cross sectional shape on the surface of a sealing base plate between external electrode and a center electrode so as to adjust the capacitance formed between the external electrode and the center electrode. CONSTITUTION:Two external electrodes 5a, 5b formed from an upper face of an upper seal base 4a over the lower face of a low seal base 4b are formed to both ends of the upper and lower sealing bases plates 4a, 4b with a piezoelectric element 3 in between. In order to form a groove 20 for capacitance adjustment to the sealing base plates 4a, 4b, not only a dicer but also a cutting machine, etc., employing a cutter driven by a motor is used for cutting. The width, depth and cross sectional shape of the slot 20 are selected properly depending on the adjustment range of the capacitance. Number of the slots 20 is selected properly depending on the adjustment range of the capacitance and the capacitance is adjusted to a prescribed capacitance value by forming one or plural grooves.
