JOINTING OF CERAMICS

PURPOSE:To carry out a jointing of vertically arranged ceramic parts assuredly and easily using an electric jointing technique by balancing the weight of the upper ceramic part plus part of an external load with a balancing load. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, a gas flame is ejected from a flame port 15 to preheat the joint of vertically arranged two ceramic parts 1, 2 with a binder 3 in between. Thence, current is injected from an current feeder 13 into electrodes 14 to melt the binder 3, and the ceramic part 1 is allowed to descend through the weight of said ceramic part 1 located on the upper side and an external load applied on said ceramic part 1 by a pressing mechanism 8, resulting in jointing of the two ceramic parts 1, 2. In this case, the weight of said ceramic part 1 plus part of said external load is balanced with a balancing load produced by a load-balancing device 12 to convert the weight of the ceramic part 1 plus the external load into a smaller load. Thereby, the ceramic part 1 will get in compliance with the shrinkage of the binder 3 while adequately reacting the molten binder 3 with both the ceramic parts 1 and 2.
