MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To arbitrarily extend the movement range of magnetic heads by providing one or more magnetic heads and a moving means which moves magnetic heads back and forth and fixing the moving means to the fixing part of a device main body. CONSTITUTION:When recording tracks of VHS standards are reproduced at about 180-fold normal speed, a servo motor 9 is controlled by the angle output of a rotary potentiometer 10 to equalize the direction orthogonal to the running direction of a magnetic tape 11 and the scanning direction of magnetic heads. A servo motor 7 is controlled by the position output of a linear potentiometer 8 and the speed output obtained by differentiating this output to drive a driving belt 5. The belt 5 is turned to move a holding body 2 back and forth, and magnetic heads 1 trace the recording tracks of the magnetic tape 11 to obtain a reproduced signal. When the tape speed is changed, a second servo motor 9 is controlled by the angle output of the rotary potentiometer 10 to adjust the scanning direction of magnetic heads 1 in accordance with the tape speed.
