Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To shorten a construction period by inserting a heat pipe into the natural ground of a circumferential portion of a tunnel at a side wall part of a vertical shaft, and freezing the natural ground with an evaporator of the heat pipe via a coolant cooled by a refrigerating plant. CONSTITUTION:A heat pipe 1 is inserted into natural ground, turning to a circumferential portion 24 of a tunnel 22 to be subjected, at a side wall part 36 of a vertical shaft 35 where a shield type tunneling machine is started or reached. Next, a condenser 8 of the pipe 1 is cooled by a refrigerating plant 24, freezing the natural ground of the circumferential part 24 with a coolant cooled via a jacket 17 to the extent of a cryogenic level in a quick manner. With this constitution, the cost of construction is reducible in addition to the shortening of a construction period.
