Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To enhance strength at high temp. without requiring a dewaxing stage by firing a molded body consisting of alumina powder and a specified polysilazane in an inert gaseous atmosphere or under pressure. CONSTITUTION:Alumina powder is mixed with polysilazane having a skeleton structure consisting of repeating units represented by formula I and also having plural residues of precursors having units represented by formula II partially in the form of structural units represented by formulae III, IV and the mixture is molded and fired at 800-1,950 deg.C in an inert gaseous atmosphere of Ar-N and/or NH3 or under pressure. In the formulae II-IV, each of R1-R4 is 1-6C lower alkyl such as methyl, ethyl, n-propyl or isopropyl, (un)substd. vinyl, (un) substd. allyl or 6-10C (un)substd. lower aryl such as phenyl, tolyl or xylyl and each of R1-R3 may be H.
