ANTIBACTERIAL GYPSUM COMPOSITION FOR DENTISTRY

PURPOSE:To provide the subject composition exhibiting a sufficient antibacterial action without causing the deterioration of the quality and the lowering of the physical properties by compounding a slightly water-soluble antibacterial agent, a hydroxy compound and a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:An antibacterial gypsum composition for dentistry is characterized by compounding a slightly water-soluble antibacterial agent such as cocoyl alginate or 2,4,4'-trichloro-2'-hydroxy-diphenyl ether, a hydroxy compound such as polyethylene glycol, glycerol or a hydroxylated cellulose preferably in an amount of >=0.5wt.% and further a surfactant (either of anionic, cationic, amphoteric and nonionic surfactants) preferably in an amount of approximately 0.005-5.0wt.%. The composition can be uniformly coated on the surface of a gypsum article without relating to the shape of the slightly water-soluble antibacterial agent, such as a powdery or oily shape, and has a sufficient antibacterial property and an excellent surface quality.
