Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To save the memory capacity for storing fault trees and to remove the restriction of the number of stages, thereby to improve the diagnosing accuracy by a more detailed fault tree. CONSTITUTION:In this plant fault diagnosing apparatus using a fault tree database, there are provided a fault tree storing part 10 which stores the fault tree data related to an objective plant, a front event input part, 20 for inputting the front event data in accordance with the monitoring data of the plant, and a diagnosis control part 30 for reading out the fault tree data corresponding to the input, front event. Further, there are provided an observing event input part 40 for inputting various kinds of data related to the plant, a fault tree base diagnosing part 50 which obtains a candidate causing the fault based on both the fault data included in the read fault tree data and the input monitoring event data, a diagnosing result display part 70 for displaying the diagnosing result, and a read part 80 which supplies the front event data of a succeeding fault tree to the diagnosis control part 30 in accordance with the diagnosing result.
