Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the thermal impact resistance of a zirconia porcelain, thereby permitting to suitably apply the zirconia porcelain to fuel batteries, oxygen sensors, electrochemical pumps, etc. CONSTITUTION:Tetragonal crystals only at the surface layer of a partially stabilized zirconia porcelain containing tetragonal crystals as crystal particles are converted into monoclinic crystals to generate compression stresses at places near to the surface, thereby improving the thermal impact resistance of the produced zirconia porcelain. The above-mentioned zirconia porcelain improved in the thermal impact resistance is employed as a solid electrolyte of an electrochemical cell.
