SYSTEM FOR RETRIEVING DATA

PURPOSE:To permit a person being unskilled to the operation of a keyboard or a mouse, etc., to easily execute an input by saving the equipment cost of a terminal inputting a keyword for obtaining information of a map or a literature, etc., from a data base. CONSTITUTION:A normal facsimile is used as the terminal and the keyword is written in a sheet of specified paper so as to input it in the facsimile. A data receiving part 2 receives picture compression data transmitted from the facsimile 1 and transmits it to a picture restoring part 3 so as to restore the data. A character recognizing part 4 recognizes picture data restored in the picture restoring part 3. A retrieving part 5 retrieves the inside of the data base 6 based on the keyword recognized in the character recognizing part 4 and obtains information of the map or the literature, etc. A picture compressing part 7 compresses information obtained in the retrieving part 5 so as to output it to the facsimile with a data transmitting part 8.
