Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To reduce the overhead of a CPU. CONSTITUTION:A reception buffer group 4 is shared between a LAN controller 1, which is interfaced to a LAN 5, and a CPU 3 to process a communication software. Between the LAN controller 1 and the CPU 3, the reception buffer group 4 is controlled by a discriptor group 2. One of the discriptor group 4 is defined as a discriptor 6 for emergency reception. The LAN controller 1 receives a frame from the LAN 5 only when all the other discriptors in the discriptor group 3 are busy to the discriptor 6 for emergency reception. The LAN controller 1 regulates the flow-in of the frame from the LAN 5 until the CPU 3 removes the exclusive flag of a buffer 7 for emergency reception. Thus, the overhead of the CPU 3 can be reduced.
