Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the using efficiency of a laser beam and to reduce the output and capacity of a laser light source and its control diameter by forming the cross sectional shape of the laser beam for scanning the surface of a screen like a non-circle flattened in the scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:The laser display device is provided with an optical pickup array 10 for outputting plural laser beams, a polygon mirror 30 for reflecting a laser beam group radiated from the array 10 and guiding the reflected beam group to the screen 20 and an f.theta optical system arranged between the mirror 30 and the screen 20 on a laser beam advancing route. The cross sectional shape of laser beams for scanning the surface of the screen is formed like a non-circle flattened in the scanning direction. Thereby, the projected image of the laser beams on the screen is narrowed in the scanning direction and the emitting time of a laser beam in each dot can be extended. Consequently, the using efficiency of laser beams can be improved and the capacity or the like of the laser light source and its control system can be sharply reduced.
