Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To numerically detect the abrasion loss of a rotary ring rotated and slid by a shaft seal device. CONSTITUTION:A position sensor 14a or a temperature sensitive sensor 14b is mounted on a sealed shaft seal chamber 12, and a reflective mark or transmitter 13 is mounted on the outer circumference of a rotary ring 8 displaced by abrasion. When the level of the transmittor 13 is coincident with that of the sensor 14a, 14b by the wear of the rotary ring 8, an alarm is given to notify that the shaft seal device is worn and the life expires. Thus, the abrasion loss of the rotary ring is mechanically precisely detected, the operation of a plant can be efficiently conducted, and the generation of problems caused by judgment error can be effectively prevented.
