SUSTAINED RELEASE TABLET

PURPOSE:To obtain a sustained release tablet containing xanthan gum at a prescribed ratio as a sustained release base and controlled so as to gradually release an inorganic electrolyte having highly water soluble property. CONSTITUTION:The objective sustained release tablet (especially matrix type sustained release tablet consisting of 30-70wt.%, preferably 40-60wt.% (based on tablet) xanthan gum and residual part of an inorganic electrolyte such as potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium or sodium salt of inorganic acid or organic acid. Since xanthan gum in a tablet is hydrated to from a hydrogel and xanthan gum has extremely high performance, the formed hydrogel layer is firm and since main medicine is cationic salt, viscosity of xanthan gum is raised and hydrogel layer becomes further firm and release from tablet of main medicine is suppressed.
