Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve a yield by impressing a driving voltage to an electrode formed in a region facing the defective picture element of a liquid crystal element for compensation, thereby displaying and controlling the region of the defective picture element. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display device 1 is constituted by laminating a polarizing plate 4, a liquid crystal element 2 for display, a polarizing plate 5, the liquid crystal element 3 for compensation, and a polarizing plate 6 in this order. The liquid crystal element 2 for display is constituted by interposing a liquid crystal 23 between a pair of transparent substrates 21 and 22. Further, the liquid crystal element 3 for compensation is constituted by interposing a liquid crystal 33 between a pair of transparent substrates 31 and 32. A scanning electrode driving circuit line sequentially impresses scanning signals to scanning electrodes and a data electrode driving circuit impresses data voltages respectively to the data electrodes in order to make display to the picture elements on the scanning electrodes. The liquid crystal element 3 for compensation is driven in this way. Namely, the same image as the image of the liquid crystal element 2 for display is displayed.
