Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To prevent the protrusion of a honeycomb body from an outside cylinder by winding a flat plate and corrugated foil around an axial center having a radius of (the straight part length/circle ratio of after forming of the honeycomb body) until the thickness attains (the radius of the arc part of the honeycomb body + allowance for press fitting), removing the axial center, crushing the honeycomb body to an elliptic shape until the spaces come into tight contact with each other, and press fitting the honeycomb body into the outside cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The flat foil and corrugated foil are wound around the axial center having the radius of the straight part length/circle ratio) until the thickness attains (the radius of the arc part of the honeycomb body + allowance for press fitting) at the time of forming the honeycomb body 5 by winding the flat foil and the corrugated foil. After the axial center is removed, the honeycomb body is crushed to the elliptic shape until the spaces come into tight contact with each other. The honeycomb body is thereafter press fitted into the outside cylinder. Consequently, the the metal carrier of a lace track type which prevents the protrusion of the honeycomb body from the outside cylinder and lessens the disturbance of the honeycomb part is efficiency produced.
