Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent continuous generation of gap cavitation after detecting generation of gap cavitation of a propeller water turbine. CONSTITUTION:A gap cavitation preventing device consists of multiple air chambers 3 surrounding the outer surface of an area opposite to a runner vane 1 of discharge ring 2, through holes 3a passing through the discharge ring 2 and communicated with the air chambers 3, valves 4 fitted to pipelines 3b communicated with the air chambers 3, and a pressure sensor 5 fitted to each air chamber 3. The valve 4 of the air chamber 3 is opened by the operation of the pressure sensor 5 to supply the air into the discharge ring 2, and continuous generation of gap cavitation thereafter is prevented.
