CONSTITUTION: Porous titania or zirconia spheres having about 1-100 microns particle diameter, about 0.1-1 cc/g pore volume and about 10-5,000 unit range of pore diameter are produced by spray drying a slurry of ultimate titania or zirconia particles having diameter about equal to that of the desired pore diameter of the formed spheres, and a reactive binder. The spheres can be used in high performance liquid chromatography columns and as catalyst supports.
