EDDY-CURRENT INSPECTING APPARATUS FOR COVERED PIPE

PURPOSE:To obtain an eddy-current inspecting apparatus for a covered pipe which can immediately perform inspecting operation only by connecting an eddy-current flaw detecting device to a linking connector without removing a covering layer for attaching eddy-current detecting coils in a regular defect- inspection. CONSTITUTION:In an eddy-current inspecting apparatus, an eddy-current flaw detecting device 30 is connected to eddy-current detecting coils 11-18 surrounding the outer surface of a pipe body 2, and the defect of the pipe body is detected based on the electromagnetic induction actions of the eddy-current detecting coils. A belt body 50 incorporating the eddy-current detecting coils is wound around the outer surface of the pipe body 2 at the inner side of a covering layer 3 such as heat insulating material covering the outer surface of the pipe body 2. A linking connector 5 which is connected to the eddy-current detecting coils with a lead wire is arranged so that the connector can be connected to the signal line from the eddy-current flaw detecting device at the outside of the covering layer.
