Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To dispose a muffling device rationally without decreasing the space in an engine compartment. CONSTITUTION:In a muffling device where a resonance muffling chamber 4 and a side branch resonance pipe or an interference pipe communicating with the air intake pipe line 3 of an internal combustion engine 13 are installed, the resonance muffling chamber 4, and the side branch resonance pipe or the interference pipe are installed in the valley part 16 of a reinforcing member 15 installed on the back surface of an engine hood 14. As the reinforcing member, a honeycomb reinforcing plate 15 or the like as well as a well-known reinforcing frame can be used. The valley part 16 means a valley between rib parts in the reinforcing frame, and a valley between the parts where a part of honeycomb elements 15a are removed and remaining honeycomb elements 15a in the honeycomb reinforcing plate 15.
