IMAGE RECORDING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To improve a recording speed without impeding accurate cutting of a recording medium by a method wherein the continuously conveyed recording medium is locally temporarily stopped at a cutter part and cut to given lengths and simultaneously the continuous feed speed of the recording medium is varied according to a subsequent cutting length. CONSTITUTION:Feed drive speeds S1-S5 at respective stages are set to a optimum speed so that cutting operation by a cutter part 6 is completed at the continuous feed speed of a recording sheet 1 right before cutting to corresponding cutting lengths 0-L1 and L4 or more is effected and a speed is increased to a high value as much as possible within a range wide enough to allow absorption during a time between completion of preceding cutting operation and subsequent cutting operation. The more the length of the recording sheet conveyed until subsequent cutting operation is effected is namely, the longer the subsequent cutting length L is the more the optimum speed can be. As noted above, since the continuous feed speed of the recording sheet 1 is automatically optimized according to the subsequent cutting length, a recording speed can be improved without impeding accurate cutting of the recording sheet 1.
