Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To ensure superior photosensitivity, electrostatic chargeability, electric charge retentivity and durability and to stably obtain a high-quality image having fine appearance and nearly free from flaws. CONSTITUTION:A boehmite layer is formed between an electrically conductive Al or Al alloy substrate and a photosensitive layer. The pref. volume resistivity of the boehmite layer is 10 -10 OMEGA.cm and the pref. thickness is 0.03-2mum. In order to form the boehmite layer, the Al or Al alloy substrate is immersed in pure water having >=10 OMEGA.cm resistivity at 70-85 deg.C for 10+ or -0.5min. The formed boehmite layer is preferably heated at 120-180 deg.C in the air for 20+ or -5min.
