Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a poly(ADP-ribose)glycohydrolase inhibitor, containing a specific glucose derivative as an active ingredient and capable of specifically inhibiting expression of cancerous gene, inhibiting the gene and exhibiting anticancer effects. CONSTITUTION:A poly(ADP-ribose)glycohydrolase inhibitor, i.e., a therapeutic and preventive agent for malignant tumor containing a glucose derivative (e.g. 2,3,4,6-tetrakis-O-galloyl-D-glucopyranose) expressed by formula I [R to R are H or A (A is carbonyl having phenyl substituted with plural groups selected from OH and lower alkoxy), provided that R to R are not simultaneously H] as an active ingredient. The compound expressed by formula I is readily obtained by reacting a compound expressed by formula II which is an easily available raw material with a compound expressed by formula AOH.
