ENGINE COVER DEVICE FOR OUTBOARD MOTOR

PURPOSE:To facilitate the maintenance for an engine by demounting a cover in simple manner by installing the left and right lower covers having different dimension on both the sides in the lower part of the engine and axially installing the rear lower edge of an upper cover in turnable manner by a supporting shaft, at the rear upper edge of one lower cover. CONSTITUTION:A lower cover 2 which covers the lower part of an engine 1 is shaped through casting, etc., of light allay, in partitioning to the left and right parts. The joint surfaces 3 on the rear sides of the left and right lower covers 2 are formed to the larger and smaller parts, deflected to one side. The lower cover 2 is tightened on the engine 1, engine holder 4, etc., from the left and right through an elastic bush. Further, at the rear upper edge of the lower cover 2, an upper cover 7 is axially installed in turnable manner through a supporting shaft 6. The front lower edge of the upper cover 7 is engaged by a hook 8, etc., on the front surface of the lower cover 2. When inspection and maintenance is carried out from the upper surface, the upper cover 7 is sprung up and turned and opened. Further, also the maintenance of the engine 1 from behind is enabled by demounting the larger side of the lower cover 2.
