A machine tool is provided with a work table (14) which can be turned backwards and forwards about a vertical axis (15) in each case by preferably 180 DEG . Splash-guard elements (24, 25) hang down from a beam (23) which spans the work table (14). The splash-guard elements (24, 25) are pivotable about an axis (27) which runs parallel to a diameter of the work table (14). The splash-guard elements (24, 25) separate a machining side (21) of the work table (14) in the working area of a spindle head (11) from a setting side (22). In order to be able to pivot the splash-guard elements through as small a pivoting angle as possible and to use as few movable parts as possible, the work table (14) is rigidly connected to a vertical splash-guard wall (20) running along a diameter of the work table (14). The splash-guard elements (24, 25) overlap the splash-guard wall (20) on either side of the vertical axis (15) on opposite sides. Their bottom edges (29) are arranged above workpieces (13, 13') mounted on the work table (14).
