PROTECTING TUBE FOR OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE FIBER

PURPOSE: To provide a protective tube for an optical waveguide fiber which is tough, has flexibility, is capable of withstanding severe environment conditions, is easily peelable and has high thermal stability. CONSTITUTION: This protective tube includes an inner plastic layer (first tubular member) 23 and outer plastic member (second tubular member) 21 in contact therewith over the substantial parts of the surfaces contacting to face with each other and one or more flexible strengthening members (reinforcing members) 33 which exist between the inner side and outer side layers 23 and 21 and in contact with both of these layers but are not substantially embedded in either of these layers. The reinforcing members 33 are easily peelable from both of the layers 23, 21 at the time of, for example, peeling.
