Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To save manpower for adjusting gain and to improve accuracy of thickness by making a system so that AGC gain can be always maintained automatically in the optimum state regarding to an automatic thickness control method that is applied to the rolling mill of continuous hot rolling mill, reversing mill, etc. CONSTITUTION:The thickness deviation of a rolled stock 2 on the outlet side is multiplied by AGC gain and it is outputted as command value for adjusting drawing down position. In the system for automatically controlling the thickness of the rolled stock 2, either skid mark or hunting is generated is decided based on the period of the thickness fluctuation of the rolled stock 2 on the outlet side. In the case of the generation of skid mark, the value of AGC gain is raised when the fluctuation of thickness of the rolled stock 2 on the outlet side is over a prescribed value, on the other hand, in the case of the generation of hunting, the value of AGC gain is lowered.
