METHOD OF LIQUEFYING COAL

PURPOSE:To improved the coal liquefying efficiency by separating initially generated gas on the exit side of a slurry preheating oven. CONSTITUTION:Coal slurry alone or together with bleed gas is introduced into a preheating oven 2, where the temperature of the slurry is raised. The slurry is then introduced into a high-temperature high-pressure separator, where initially generated gas composed mainly of an inorganic gas is removed by separation. A liquid-phase component is liquefied in a reaction tower 4, and the liquefied product is separated into a liquefied product oil and a residue in a separating step. Since the initially generated gas is removed by separation on the exit side of the preheating oven, the partial pressure of hydrogen rises in the liquefying reaction tower, so that the liquefying reaction is accelerated. The formation of calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate is prevented, so that the volume efficiency of the reaction tower is improved. The quantity of inorganic gas in the gas produced after the liquefying reaction is greatly reduced, so that the load in purifying gas is decreased.
