Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide an effective vibration-damping effect against two- directional vibration by using a simple mechanism and to reduce the installation space as compared with the conventional device. CONSTITUTION:A weight 3 is supported on a horizontal base 1 on the floor of a structure via ball bearings 4. A groove 13 intersecting at right angles is disposed in the weight 3, and a rack 14 is installed on the inside wall of groove 13. On the horizontal base 1, a servomotor 15, which has a pinion 16 engaging with the rack 14, is slidably installed in a servomotor slide groove 17 disposed so as to intersect at right angles with the groove 13. A roller 8 moves in a horizontal groove 7 disposed in a reaction wall 6 which is erected on the base 1 and surrounds the weight 3. The roller 8 is connected to the weight 3 with springs 5. A control mechanism is installed to detect the vibration of structure during earthquake and perform drive control so as to move the weight 3 in two directions by rotating the servo motor 15 at a required speed.
