METHOD FOR REMOVING COMBUSTIBLE SOLVENT FROM ARTICLE SURFACE

PURPOSE:To efficiently remove the combustible solvent remaining on the surface of an article and to easily separate the combustible solvent and incombustible solvent from the recovered liq. by exposing the article wetted with a specified combustible solvent in the vapor of an incombustible solvent substantially immiscible with the combustible solvent. CONSTITUTION:An article wetted with >=1 kind of combustible solvent selected from alcohols, hydrocarbons, ketones and esters is exposed in the vapor of an incombustible solvent substantially immiscible with the combustible solvent. A completely fluorinated compd. shown by formulas I-VIII (n or m is an integer of >=1) is used as the incombustible solvent. The combustible solvent remaining on the article takes up the heat of vaporization of the incombustible solvent and is vaporized and removed from the article surface, and the incombustible solvent vapor having given off the heat of vaporization is condensed on the article surface and replaces the combustible solvent remaining on the article surface. Accordingly, the combustible solvent remaining on the article surface is easily removed, and the article is dried.
