Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To emit an ink droplet by high frequency while ensuring the necessary capacity of the ink droplet, in an ink jet head emitting ink using a piezoelectric element, by providing a flow path opening and closing valve on the side opposite to the nozzle of an ink cavity part. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of flow path grooves each consisting of a cavity 4, a flow path opening and closing valve 7 and an ink preparation chamber 3 are formed to the single surface of a head substrate 1 and orifices 5 are connected to the end surfaces of the flow path grooves and nozzles 6 are formed to the tips of the orifices 5 in a row. A vibration plate 2 is connected to the surfaces of the flow path grooves to form ink flow paths. A piezoelectric element 8 is formed so as to contain a part of the cavity 4, the flow path opening and closing valve 7 and the ink preparation chamber 3. The vibration plate 2 is not bent in such a state that the charge of the piezoelectric element is discharged and a gap is generated between the opening and closing valve 7 and the vibration plate 2 to supply ink to the cavity 4. Next, when charge is supplied, the vibration plate 2 is bent to discharge an ink droplet. At this time, the gap between the opening valve 7 and the vibration plate 2 becomes narrow to increase flow path resistance.
